Biography

Ann Squire

Portrait of Ann SquireOne of the things common to most animal and wildlife artists is that they start young.  I was no exception; drawing was always a favourite pastime.  But a career in nursing and bringing up two children meant that the drawing had to wait.  In 1996 following surgery I once again took to the easel. And since then have not looked back.  I exhibit with several national art societies including NEWA. MIWAS and  the Equestrian Art Society at the Mall Galleries in London.  I am fortunate to have been presented with a number of awards for my work since 1996.  Most recently Amateur Wildlife Artist of the year (2009) by The Editor of Wildscape magazine.  Also this year I was lucky enough to be short-listed for the BBC wildlife artist of the year with a painting of a Meercat and thrilled when my painting, Iguana Iguana was short listed in the David Shepherd wildlife artist of the year (2009).  The painting was subsequently hung at the Mall Galleries along side an exhibition by the great David Shepherd himself.  All these competitions are international so I feel honoured to have my paintings recognized in this way.

In November 2007 I took part in the Sporting and Wildlife auction at Christies in London
